Lada is 19 years old and comes from St Petersburg, Russia. She was born in a musical family and started to play the violin at the age of seven. In the following two years she was already able to play in a variety of concerts and, a year later, Lada entered the Lyceum of the St. Petersburg Conservatory where her teacher was Professor Saveliy Shalman.

During these years Lada played many concerts in Russia and across Europe, including Bach’s Double Concerto with the Hermitage Orchestra as well as Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No 1. She has played in all the main concert halls in Saint Petersburg, such as the Big Philharmonic Hall, the Small Philharmonic Hall, the Capella and the Conservatoire.

She has also taken part in many festivals in Europe and Russia, such as the Mozart Festival in Venice. Successes include winning second prize in the International Violin Competition of Russian Music in Saint-Petersburg (2003) and second prize in the International Rimsky-Korsakov Violin Competition (2004). Last year, she won a scholarship from the Musician’s Benevolent Fund.

At the age of 16, Lada came to the UK to study at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where she was granted a full scholarship and currently studies with Jan Repko. As well as performing solo repertoire she regularly participates in chamber music and is a member of Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra. In September she will continue her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music.
